The Goliath Soft Top surfboard has been developed for the heavier person at the start of their surfing journey. Most large people find it hard to progress their surfing and quickly give up. This is not the fault of the surfer, but the surfboard that they are riding.
Soft top surfboards are traditionally designed with a ‘one size fits all’ approach. These boards are also limited by length. Anything above 9 foot is inclined to snap due to the inherent weakness of the construction. This problem can be overcome with specific construction methods, but these significantly increase the cost of the board.
After speaking to so many frustrated beginner surfers, Goliath developed a soft top designed for someone carrying more weight. We wanted to create something affordable and robust with heaps of float to maximise wave count for the 90kg+ surfer.
The Goliath soft top surfboard packs in the volume at 100 litres without compromising on strength and durability. We have created a high-volume beginner surfboard that is built to last, designed specifically for a surfer that needs more volume. The board has added thickness and width in the right places without compromising on function. The reinforced rails also provide added strength and durability.
This board would also suit someone carrying an injury and needs more float to help with balance. If age isn’t on your side and you lack paddle fitness this would also be a great option.
The Goliath Soft Board is sold as a starter pack and comes with fins and a leash.
I noticed my old soft-top had a bit too much flex, I felt like it was killing my glide and at 100kg I was finding it a bit of a struggle, so set out to find something better.
This Goliath soft top has been excellent so far, i'm so pleased I bought this over other boards I was looking at. Such a stable platform and great glide. Pretty much zero flex with it being a full fiberglass board under the foam and plastic.
Over the past few weeks I've caught a lot more waves and really feel a big improvement in my surfing. Really looking forward to the summer when I can get the family out on it too.
Have had the board since November and only managed to get out a handful of times but what a board. As a larger bloke who lives in Oxford so doesn’t have the sea to practice regular this board os helping me when I do get out 10 fold, it catches the waves so easily and is unbelievable stable in the water.
I’m really happy with it and can’t recommend it enough for a larger person looking for a first board!
I bought this board as I was finding it hard to stand on smaller boards, this is so stable I can stand nearly every time which makes surfing so much more fun and enjoyable.
Really easy to carry, would definitely recommend it is so good we are buying another one
I bought this board as I’d been learning to surf on a standard 9’ foamie board which, though ok, was pretty flexible for my size (over 100kg) which meant I was fighting to catch waves- especially popping up.
This board has way less flex, is really stable, and has helped me catch more waves and get to my feet more often than not- giving me more confidence and ultimately helping the whole experience be more fun.
